Kirnjot Singh, MD, President
Dr. Singh is a retired Spine Surgeon and entrepreneur who has been involved in various startups, developments, partnerships, acquisitions and turnarounds. As the President of the Boa Vida family of companies, Dr. Singh brings strong leadership. He can adapt to changes in business promptly, allowing for continuous, uninterrupted growth. He has practiced medicine for over 20 years and led several successful entrepreneurial endeavors over that time. Dr. Singh has been actively involved in all facets of healthcare, from surgery centers, imaging centers, physical therapy, hospital operations inclusive of planning and building a new facility, clinical laboratory operations, behavioral health and related services. He brings a core strength in galvanizing and enhancing the medical staff and hospital strategic initiatives. His focus always remains on patient care and employee relationships, believing that happy employees are the key to good, quality patient care. Dr. Singh completed his residency at Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopedic Institute in N.Y. and graduated from medical school in 1996 from the University of Texas Medical Branch At Galveston. Subsequently, he completed an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Indiana University in Indianapolis, IN. Later, Dr. Kirnjot Singh completed a combined Orthopedic and Neurosurgery Fellowship in Spine Surgery at New York University/Hospital for Joint Diseases, N.Y.
Darrwin Perkins, MS, Chief Strategy Officer
Mr. Perkins has been involved in healthcare management, business development and consulting for over 25 years. Before joining Boa Vida as Chief Strategy Officer, Mr. Perkins worked as Executive Project Consultant and Director of Business Development for The Methodist Hospitals, Inc. As Executive Vice President of Business Development & Principal for The Center for Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine L.L.C.; he focused on the growth and operations. Mr. Perkins also served as Chief Operating Officer for Affiliated Physicians Group, L.L.C., an Independent Physicians Association with more than 150 primary care physicians and specialists throughout the Chicagoland area suburbs. Before each, Mr. Perkins had experience with various healthcare facilities, health plans and managed healthcare operations in Illinois and New York. His experience included serving as Vice President of Business Development and Managed Care at Roseland Community Hospital and Director of Network Development for Aveta Health Illinois, Inc. (Medicare Advantage Health Plan) and Executive Director for North American Medical Management (IPA/PHO Management Firm). Mr. Perkins has worked with United Healthcare, Silver Cross Managed Care (PHO), Heritage Medical Group-NY (IPA/MSO), CompPsych (Behavioral Management), Doctors Care Network (IPA/MSO) and both Provident and Cook County Hospital. Mr. Perkins received a B.A. from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an M.S. in Human Services Administration from Spertus College in Chicago, Illinois. He has also taken doctoral courses toward a degree in Business Administration at Northcentral University. Additionally, Mr. Perkins has held a Pharmaceutical Technician License and Series 7 & Series 63 Broker Licenses administered by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) through the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (S.E.C.).
Dana Strong, VP of Data Analytics & Decision Report
Dana Strong is a Senior Director, Analytics/Support for Boa Vida Healthcare with over 30 years of experience in healthcare finance, audit and consulting. He provides revenue cycle management oversight, cost report filings expertise and government relations support. He has worked within numerous health care organizations, including hospitals, health systems, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies and federally qualified health centers (FQHC). Mr. Strong brings a wealth of experience to Boa Vida from several previous positions in various health care entities. With more than 25 years of experience in health care consulting, Boa Vida relies on him to strategically improve the organization’s opportunity for success. Dana is Certified in Healthcare Finance and as a Financial Professional. Other specializations include Revenue Cycle performance improvement, Interim C.F.O./Controller Availability, Medicare Cost Report Preparation, Audit Assistance, Strategic Planning and Board Facilitation. Mr. Strong has been C.F.O./Controller for four different Critical Access Hospitals and C.F.O. for the second-largest visiting nurse association in Massachusetts, as well as Medicare Intermediary Auditor for 10 years. He is a Founding Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Trustees (FACHT) and an HFMA member. Mr. Strong holds a Southern New Hampshire University Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and a Husson College Master of Science Degree in Business.
Michael Schneider, MBA, Senior Finance Director
Michael Schneider comes to Boa Vida Healthcare with over 25 years of healthcare finance. Mr. Schneider’s professional experience is with the extensive financial management of hospitals located on the East & West Coast and Chicago. His core strength lies in identifying opportunities to increase operational efficiencies and enhance revenue opportunities. Some of Mr. Schneider’s relevant experience includes managing, monitoring and analyzing the hospital’s $42 million operating budget for a safety-net hospital on the southeast side of Chicago, which was funded by Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and governmental supplemental. Also, implementing a Revenue Integrity department and function that significantly increased denial prevention, improved denials management restructured coding function and is currently performing at optimal levels and improved efficiency of chargemaster function.
Brad Huffman, Pharmacy and Clinic Manager
Mr. Huffman’s Healthcare background spans many years with deep clinical expertise working as a nurse and Hospital Administration. He has over five years of experience working with the 340B program in C.A.H. hospitals, implementing different third-party split billing software platforms, and building and maintaining 340b contract pharmacy networks with chain pharmacies and independent pharmacies. Mr. Huffman has held positions in two HRSA program integrity audits & one manufacturer audit, corporate Director of Nursing and I.T. at a Mississippi C.A.H., special healthcare projects and Business Development at a Mississippi C.A.H. and as an Executive Director of Hospice, Columbus, MS.
